Why is there no rating lower than 1 star? - Comment (On: May 30, 2006)
I stayed at the DIS-innchanter years ago and, after reading reviews at http://www.virtualtourist.com/, see that the only thing that`s changed is that Sean has gotten himself some internet access and started writing glowing reviews for himself. It was a horrible, horrible experience. Tips if you go: 1. Book a water taxi ahead of time. Sean or one of his friends will not be there to meet you, no matter what he says. Book one for the way out, too. 2. Be prepared for him to ignore you in favor of fishing friends and other sketchy characters (note: your money is paying to feed them). We tried to get his attention so that we could leave early and he wouldn`t talk to us. The result: no refund for the last night of our scheduled stay, because we "didn`t give enough notice." And he was pissy about it. Also, we hadn`t expected to have to pay for a water taxi (see #1, above), so this left us with no cash to get home once we made it back to Tofino. He didn`t care. 3. He will speak ill of you to others when you are not there. 4. He will pout if you stay in your cabin. 5. You might get sick from undercooked chicken. I did. 6. Wear shoes on the deck of the boat. There was broken glass on it. 7. Take antihistamines. One of the rooms was incredibly moldy-smelling. Best way to describe the visit: the going up river in Apocalypse Now/Heart of Darkness. Save your money and stay in Tofino--at least you won`t be trapped.
